The week started off great with a walk on the Huntington Beach Pier.  The surfers were out and so were the hoards of people fishing off the pier.  The mornings have been full of June gloom which makes for perfect walking weather.  Where is your favorite place to walk on gloomy mornings?

This is an App designed for your personal safety.  Companion was designed by students at the University Of Michigan.  All you need to do is enter your destination and select a few of your contacts to be your Companions (your contacts don’t even need to install the App on their phone).  Companions will get a live map of your progress and will receive updates that you made it from Point A to Point B with no problems.  If something happens along the way Companion will check on you to make sure everything is okay.  If you don’t respond within 15 seconds, Companion will alert your contacts.  There is also a “I Feel Nervous” button and that information will be passed along to your contacts, also.  You can also call the police with just two taps.  iOS & Android ~ Free

25 random acts of kindness

There is no better feeling than when someone does something nice for you just because, and that same feeling goes for doing something nice for someone…just because!  The world can be a very harsh place just one small act of random kindness from a fellow human can dramatically change someones life or at the very least make their day!

I have made a list of 25 little random acts of kindness, so just maybe we can all show a little more kindness and love towards each other.

One small random act of kindness can truly make someone’s day.

  1. Say “Good Morning” to the person standing next to you.
  2. Offer to return a shopping cart to the store after someone has loaded groceries in their car.
  3. Purchase coffee for the person standing in line behind you.
  4. Text someone just to say good morning or good night.
  5. Leave an encouraging note on the mirror in a public restroom.
  6. Hold the door open for others.
  7. Give a genuine compliment to at least 1 person everyday.
  8. Give a gift to someone, just because.
  9. Compliment someone to their boss.
  10. Let people merge-in during traffic.
  11. Say “thank you” and “please”.
  12. Send a care package to a solider.
  13. Buy lemonade from a kid’s lemonade stand.
  14. Put a coin in an expired meter.
  15. Say “I love you” to someone you love.
  16. Smile at people.
  17. Surprise your friend with a CD of their favorite songs.
  18. Introduce yourself to new and not so new neighbors.
  19. Compliment a stranger.
  20. Hold the elevator.
  21. Write your husband/wife a list of all the things you love about them.

In the world of beauty there are an endless amount of beauty tips and rules to follow.  Over the years, I have learned a thing or two about some very important beauty tips from my mom (I should have listened to her sooner), make-up artists, friends, and my short career in a cosmetics department (I do miss the free make-up).

Today, I’m going to share with you my five favorite beauty tips that I follow daily! And if you’re not doing these things you should!

  1. Always remove your make-up before going to bed and apply a night cream no matter how tired you are.
  2. Make sure to exfoliate your lips prior to applying lipstick.  Doing so will make your lips look more plump and help your lipstick stay on longer.
  3. Never pump your mascara & get a new one every 3 months!  The only thing it does is dry out your mascara!
  4. Clean your make-up brushes and sponges once a week.  Swirl the brushes around in warm water and a mild soap. This helps to fight against potential bacteria and breakouts.
  5. Always wear a sunscreen!

And now for five make-up trends I won’t be doing…EVER!

  1. Adding faux freckle, this trend is just plain crazy.  I just don’t get it.  The girls I have seen it on just looks horrible and their skin looks dirty.
  2. Wearing Unicorn make-up.  These women paint their faces pink and glittery, great for Halloween, but not for daily life.
  3. Noticeable contouring.  Make-up needs to enhance the beauty each person has.  The beauty of the face needs to stand out not the make-up.
  4. Over spray-tanned skin.  If you are looking like a Oompa Loompa you’ve gone too far with the spray tan.
  5. Overly thin or thick eyebrows.  Eyebrows are to enhance the eye not over power them.

Glamping And My EcoWash

Handsome and I have been invited to go Glamping this summer.  Just so you know I DON’T camp!  There are no if, ands, or buts about it.  But, when our friends came to us with this “glamping” invitation I was intrigued. They told us that Handsome and I would be staying in our very own 31-foot Airstream trailer.  Have you ever seen one of those beauties? I know…weird. I don’t camp yet I think an Airstream is beautiful!

Now this is the type of camping; or glamping as they call it, I can do. However, there is one drawback. There is no place to wash our clothes.  Normally when we go on vacation I bring a huge laundry bag and as we dirty our clothes we shove them in the bag. Then all we need to do when we get home is throw the bag in the laundry room. When we are ready to wash all the dirty clothes they are together in one bag and not in different suitcases mixing with the clean clothes I never ended up wearing.

I thought it would be nice to be able to wash my delicates while I’m gone so I don’t have to throw them in with the big pile of dirty clothes.
