I’m kind of a nut when it comes to reading information on the internet and then giving it a try.  Sometimes they work and other times they are a huge failure!  A few years ago, I read that putting used coffee grounds at the base of rose bushes helps them bloom more, and what do you know, it actually helped.  Now, I have a new use for those coffee grounds!

I read that coffee can do wonders for the skin. Coffee is naturally an anti-inflammatory and a antioxidant, which when used on the skin can improve the texture (helps reduce cellulite, YAY!) and at the same time increase the circulation to your skin.

It got me thinking…  About that organic store that sells facial, body, and lip scrubs.  I love their products, but it can get a little costly.  I made my own little body scrubs and if I do say so myself they came out pretty great!  So, friends might or might not be getting these as hostess gifts for their holiday parties I’m attending.
Homemade Coffee and Sugar Scrub

It is so very easy to do, and I’m sure most people have all the ingredients already home.

Step One: Mix the coconut oil with the coffee grounds and sugar.  I like using raw sugar for it’s gritty texture, but you can use regular table sugar if that’s what you have on hand.

Step Two: Place the mixture in to a mini muffin tray or a ice cube tray and place the tray into the freezer to harden.  It took my coffee and sugar body scrub about 1 hour to set up.

Instead of using harsh scrubs with chemicals, isn’t it better to nourish your skin with natural products? And if you are like me and use the coffee grounds you made your coffee with, you are recycling – win, win!
