Glamping And My EcoWash

Handsome and I have been invited to go Glamping this summer.  Just so you know I DON’T camp!  There are no if, ands, or buts about it.  But, when our friends came to us with this “glamping” invitation I was intrigued. They told us that Handsome and I would be staying in our very own 31-foot Airstream trailer.  Have you ever seen one of those beauties? I know…weird. I don’t camp yet I think an Airstream is beautiful!

Now this is the type of camping; or glamping as they call it, I can do. However, there is one drawback. There is no place to wash our clothes.  Normally when we go on vacation I bring a huge laundry bag and as we dirty our clothes we shove them in the bag. Then all we need to do when we get home is throw the bag in the laundry room. When we are ready to wash all the dirty clothes they are together in one bag and not in different suitcases mixing with the clean clothes I never ended up wearing.

I thought it would be nice to be able to wash my delicates while I’m gone so I don’t have to throw them in with the big pile of dirty clothes.

Enter Avalon Bay… They make this really cool portable (18’ high, 16” wide, & 17.5” long, when fully assembled) non-electric hand powered washing machine.

Glamping And My EcoWash

It’s lightweight and washes about 5 lbs of laundry in about 2 minutes.

Glamping And My EcoWash

The EcoWash’s pressurized cleaning technology gently cleans your clothes and removes the toughest stains. It only uses a couple of tablespoons of detergent per load depending on the size of your load. Because there are no agitators, it is extremely gentle on your clothes (that is why it is so great for your delicates).

Here’s what I washed.  The stains were removed and the clothes came out smelling clean.

  • 3 pairs of socks
  • 2 pairs of shorts
  • 3 t-shirts
  • 2 shirts

  • Do you vacation on a boat or RV?
  • Do you go camping?

If you do, you need a EcoWash to make your life easier!

Using the EcoWash helps conserves water, electricity, and the chemical footprint on the environment.  Do yourself, your clothes and the environment a favor.

Want to know a secret? I keep my EcoWash in my bedroom closet, so whenever I need to wash my delicates I can set the EcoWash on my bathroom counter and wash away!

5 Simple Ways To Clear The Negative Energy From Your Home

Spring is not that far away even though good ‘ol Punxsutawney Phil says it’s going to be 5 more weeks of winter.  That doesn’t mean you can’t start to getting ready for Spring cleaning now.

In fact, now is the perfect time.

5 Simple Ways To Clear The Negative Energy From Your Home

Everyone cleans their home, at least from time to time, but have you ever cleaned your home of negative energy?  Once you perform the cleansing, you definitely can feel the energy of the space lifted, it seems brighter, and the air circulates better.  You don’t have to wait for Spring to do this type of cleaning.

Just a few of the times you should do this cleaning in your home:

  1. After a divorce, break-up, or someone moves out
  2. Once you have removed clutter from your home
  3. You have moved into a new space
  4. When you have bought a second-hand item or received an antique
  5. After a large party
  6. When someone has had an illness or died
  7. After an argument
  8. If you are feeling sad
  9. You have negative feelings
  10. Prior to implementing feng shui

Here are 5 simple ways to clear that negative energy from your home:

Air Out Everything

Open all the windows and doors.  Create a draft through your home to let the outside fresh air move freely though your home, even if it’s freezing outside.  Fresh air is everything!

Repair Or Get Rid Of Broken Things

Broken items keep that negative air flowing in your home or office space.  Either fix or donate those items to get rid of their negative energy.

Remove Clutter As Soon As Possible

Doesn’t it feel great when you clean a space? “Things” retain a lot of energy and can block our path forward.  Cluttered areas can also make you feel tired emotionally and physically.

Salt The Corners Of Each Room

I know it sounds strange for those who have never heard of this.  The salt absorbs the negative energy.  Do this especially if you have moved into a previous owned home.  Pour salt into the four corners of each room and let it sit for 48 hours, then either sweep or vacuum the salt and throw it away in the trash outside of your home.

Protect Your Entrances

Windows and doors are entrances to all kinds of energy.  To make sure only the positive energy is entering, you must sure these areas are clean.  To do this, fill a bucket with water, Juice from 4 lemons, 1/4 of a cup of white vinegar, and 1/2 cup of salt.  Wiping down the doorknobs and windows with the mixture.  Then pour salt by all the entrances to your home.  Cover the salt with a door mat so the negative energy does not enter your home.

Now that your home is clean and free of negative engery enjoy all that Spring has to offer!

Until Next Time…

XOXO

Make 2017 Your Best Year!

Your success and happiness lies in you.  Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties. — Helen Keller

Make 2017 Your Best Year

Did you make a New Year’s resolution this year?  Looking forward to what 2017 has in store for you, the changes, the learning, the friendships, the successes?  What are you looking forward to most?

Let’s Get This Year Started…

Think Big!  You know the saying “if you can think it, you can do it”.  The bigger the idea, the bigger the outcome.  Go for it, 2017 is the year to make your ideas happen.

Don’t Follow The Crowd.  If you like something or someone others don’t, that’s a them problem.  You do you (with a huge smile on your face).  Always be a student, not a follower.  It’s a huge difference.

Encourage Others.  We all like to hear a little encouragement.  Be that person for the others in your life.

Walk For 30 Minutes A Day.  Not only is getting out and walking 30 minutes a day good for your body it’s also great for your brain.  It’s a wonderful way to decompress from a long day at work, let the work stuff go and enjoy a relaxing evening.  If motivation is a problem try getting a FitBit (the wrist one) or FitBit (the clip-on one).  See my experience with a FitBit here.

Let Go.  I know from personal experience this one is sometimes easier said then done.  If there are people in your life that shouldn’t be there.  Let them loose.

Be On Time.  When you are late you are letting the person waiting on you know their time is not important to you.  It is a lack of respect to keep others waiting.

Forgive.  Another hard one.  Just remember while you are holding on to animosity, they are out enjoying life!

I am choosing to make this a year of positivity, large goals and letting go!

Until Next Time…

Alexa? Will You Rap For Me?

I have been needing an assistant for some time now and since that is not currently in the cards {or in the wallet}, Alexa is the next best thing!

Are you wondering who Alexa is?

Well, Alexa is actually an Amazon Echo.  It is as if Amazon Prime, Siri, and Google were all wrapped up in to one sleek-looking device.  The device answers to the name Alexa and she even has a sence of humor.  Although, you must address her by name to get your questions answered.

Alexa

In the short time I’ve been the proud owner of Alexa, she has certainly made my life easier.

1. Lists: Alexa keeps a record of my shopping list.  I just tell her what I need and she makes a shopping list for me.  I am able to access that shopping list off the Alexa App on my phone when I’m at the store.  You will never forget an item again!  She can also help me in the kitchen when my hands are dirty and I need to convert measurements.  I also have a household to-do list that anyone in my home can access or add to.  This comes in super handy.

2. Alarm & Timers: Alexa helps me stay on task and organized.  Her voice controlled alarms are such a help to keep me on task while working.

3. Shopping:  Do you purchase a lot of items from Amazon Prime, just like I do?  You can re-stock your items in your Amazon history just by telling Alexa what you want to purchase.  All from the comfort of anywhere in your home.

4. Traffic:  Just tell Alexa where you are going and she will give you a traffic update.  Want to know how many miles it is from your home to Alaska? Just ask!

5. Jeopardy:  Are you a crazy fan of Jeopardy?  Alexa will ask you an additional 6 Jeopardy questions from the same categories that were on the show that day.

6. If you have an Echo remote you can say Alexa, Simon says… followed by what you want to say and Alexa will repeat it from her main unit.  Making the people in the same room as her think she is talking to them.

7. Math:  Not good at simple math?  Alexa is.

8. Music: She can play music from your Amazon Prime Music, then she adds the tracks to a Goole Sheet.  And then saves a playlist of all the songs to Spotify.

Some fun questions to ask Alexa…

Don’t forget to say her name before each question!

Ask her to Rap.  How far is the moon?  How old is Santa Claus?  What’s the square root of 32?

Presidential Library – Ronald Reagan

Have you ever visited a Presidential library?

Reagan

Recently, I visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, CA.

Here is a small sample of my visit…

President Ronald Reagan

Reagan

This beautiful Bronze statue of Ronald Reagan was unveiled on what would have been his 105th birthday at the Ronald Reagan Library.

The Oval Office

Reagan

This is an exact replica of the Oval Office.  The door in the middle of the picture leads to the Presidents private quarters.  The pictures on the table behind the desk, the Bronze sculptures on the table to the left of the desk, and the Bronze sculpture on the far right of the pictures were all in the Oval Office while President Reagan was in office.

Many Presidents have used the Resolute desk either in their person study or in the Oval Office.  The Resolute desk was made of oak wood from the British ship H.M.S. Resolute.  Queen Victoria gifted it to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880 as a good will gesture for returning her abandon ship back to her.

Originally, the desk had a rear knee hole.  President Roosevelt asked for it to be fitted with a panel carved with the Presidential coat of arms.  Sadly, he did not live to see it installed.

READ MY PINS: THE MADELINE ALBRIGHT COLLECTION
April 3, 2017 – June 25, 2017

Read My Pins presents a remarkable range of more than 200 pins and brooches from the personal collection of Madeleine Albright. The majority of these pieces were collected and worn during Albright’s service as US Ambassador to the United Nations (1993–1997) and as the first female Secretary of State (1997–2001), under President Bill Clinton. The assortment is eclectic, international, and representative of nearly a century of jewelry design. Yet the jewelry’s true interest lies not in their materials or monetary value but in the roles they played during her government service: Albright used her pins as silent yet visually outspoken codes to foreign officials and the press. Pins could be adopted for various reasons—a shining sun or a patriotic flag would reinforce a positive alliance with the United States, for example, while more difficult negotiations might bring out wasps or snakes.

Albright served the US government during a remarkable period in history, and many of the notable landmarks of her tenure can be decoded through the visual iconography of her pins. These pieces document and symbolize moments of political upheaval and also convey the patriotism of this Czechoslovakian-born diplomat. Whereas George H. W. Bush famously said “Read my lips” to convey a campaign promise, Albright encouraged, “Read my pins,” demonstrating that jewelry had become part of her personal diplomatic arsenal. These objects became delicate instruments with which she applied pressure during intense negotiations, and into which she invested humor as she represented the United States on the international stage.

Christmas Time At Disneyland!

It’s The most wonderful time of the year.

Christmas Time At Disneyland!Christmas Time At Disneyland

Disneyland anytime of the year is a magical place, but this time of year just has a little extra special feeling because of the beautiful Christmas transformation the park takes.  It’s definitely the merriest place on earth {besides the North Pole}!

Christmas Time At Disneyland

A Christmas Fantasy Parade –  This is an adorable parade really brings you into the Christmas spirit.  You need to check out the cute skating reindeer! And, of course the Disney princesses {my favorite}.

Christmas Time At Disneyland

It’s A Small World –  This ride is spectular at Chrismas inside and out {especially at night}

Christmas Time At Disneyland

Hungry?  I bet you didn’t know you could get a lobster roll at Disneyland.  It’s located in this little blue fishing shack “Harbor Galley” near the exit of the Haunted Mansion.  This fluffy butter-toasted roll is filled with lobster salad. It the perfect thing to satisfy your hunger at lunch time. Thank goodness a friend told me about these or I would have never found them!Christmas Time At Disneyland

Christmas Time At Disneyland

If you havent tried one of this decadent treats you must!  It’s a Chocolate Peanut Butter Sandwich.  It is so very rich!  It’s a graham cracker coated in chocolate, a thick peanut butter layer over that, and then the whole thing dipped in chocolate once again, topped with peanut bits, salt, and a dark chocolate mickey!  It’s a cookie more than  sandwich.  Think Reese’s…DELICIOUS!

This year I have been lucky enough to visit Disneyland 3 times so far this holiday season and along the way I have learned some tips and tricks that I thought I should share with you.

Take your time walking through the park.  There are so may details you would miss if you were rushing around. Like the smell of gingerbread being piped in.  Pay attention to the amazing Christmas decor.  And, listen for the wonderful holiday music.

Grab a coffee and people watch.

Don’t miss the lighting of the Christmas tree, every day at 5:00pm.

It snows every evening on Main Street after the fireworks show.  It is truly magical {like everything else at Disneyland}

Even though it is busier during the Christmas season, Disneyland compensates with longer hours.

Don’t miss the Disney Chrismas Parade on TV Christmas morning.

Disneyland is open on Christmas Day {and it will be busy}!

Christmas Time At Disneyland

One of my favorite things to do on my way out of Disneyland is stop by New Orleans Street and go get a bag of delicious warm beignet all covered in powdered sugar for the walk back to the car!

Even in the pouring down rain this place is magical!
